IBERMÚSICA reveals its stunning 2021-22 season

Thirteen top-class symphony ensembles from eight European countries will visit Madrid between October and May
At Kaunus, we couldn’t miss the presentation of IBERMÚSICA’s 52nd season. After a difficult year of postponements, interruptions and cancellations due to the global Covid-19 pandemic, the music and show must go on. And what better than an exciting season full of talent and enthusiasm to revitalize the industry and consolidate its class and reputation.
To achieve this, IBERMÚSICA has left no stone unturned. A total of 13 international symphony ensembles and 20 soloists are taking part in the festival, which will take place in Madrid between October this year and May 2022.

The program of the 2021-22 IBERMÚSICA season

The new season will open in October with the NDR Elbphilharmonie Orchestra Hamburg and its chief conductor Alan Gilbert, with the fantastic violinist Joshua Bell as soloist. In November, the wonderful Staatskapelle Berlin and Daniel Barenboim, the famous pianist and conductor, will perform symphonies by Beethoven, Schubert, Schumann and Brahms in two concerts.
In December, we can enjoy another highly anticipated concert: the Rundfunk-Sinfonieorchester Berlin under the direction of Vladimir Jurowski. Leonidas Kavakos will play Brahms’ Violin Concerto in this evening event.
The two great Italian orchestras, the Filarmonica della Scala and Santa Cecilia from Rome, will also be present in this comprehensive season with their respective chief conductors Riccardo Chailly and Sir Antonio Pappano. Together with the latter, the cellist Narek Hakhnazaryan will perform as part of Ibermúsica.
Pianist Evgeny Kissin will be in charge of welcoming the year 2022. February will see two exceptional concerts of the highest caliber. Firstly, there is the concert of the Juventudes Musicales de Madrid, conducted by violinist Anne-Sophie Mutter, together with pianist Lambert Orkis. And secondly, the concert of Yo-Yo Ma, who will perform the complete Bach cello suites on the same evening as part of The Bach Project.
Spring will be full of surprises, because in April we will have another highlight of 2022, a recital by two of the world’s best singers – Jonas Kauffman and Diana Damrau – together with the outstanding pianist Helmut Deutsch.
Without a doubt, this is a more than complete season, full of great events and first-class concerts for a year full of hope and joy, in which music and talent will once again storm the stages.
